Smorgasboard of advice for new teachers from #scichat
I’ve blogged about #scichat before, and the great ideas I’ve gathered from the weekly twitter conversations every Tuesday at 9pm (EST).
But tonight, I think we reached a new level of #scichat aweseomeness when a horde of science teachers got together to share tips for new teachers. I think Ellena tried to do a quick estimate, and easily had a couple hundred years of science teaching experience on scichat, and by my count, at least a dozen new faculty. It’s just amazing to me that someone could be a new teacher, with all those new teacher worries we all have, hop on the internet on a random Tuesday night and suddenly be connected with an entire cadre of colleagues willing to help you and take away many of your worries. Yet another win for the social media professional development revolution.
Here’s the transcript. There are insights in there that are valuable for any teacher, no matter how much experience you have.
Thank you so very much for posting this!! I wanted to attend, but had to pack for our big trip. A group of us are putting on a new teacher workshop to support new physics teachers in the area in a couple of weeks. This is so valuable. Thanks again!
